How I started making websites

Listen to this post 🎧

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to design and technology. As a kid, I would spend hours tinkering with anything creative — whether it was rearranging layouts in a notebook, experimenting with digital tools, or trying to understand how things worked behind the scenes. I wasn’t just interested in making things look good; I wanted to build something from scratch and figure out how all the pieces fit together.

That curiosity led me to my first real step into web design: blogging. When I was a teenager, I created my first blog on Blogger, and while writing was part of the fun, what fascinated me most was the ability to customise everything. I wanted my blog to stand out, so I started learning how to tweak layouts, change colors, and edit code — even if I had no idea what I was doing at first. That was my introduction to HTML and CSS, and once I realised I could control how a website looked and functioned, I was hooked.

From hobby to profession

As I got older, I kept experimenting with different website platforms. I moved from Wix and Squarespace to Shopify, each time learning more about what I could and couldn’t customise. I loved how these platforms made website building easy, but at some point, I started feeling restricted. I wanted complete creative freedom, and that’s when I finally gave WordPress a try.

At first, WordPress seemed overwhelming — it wasn’t as “plug-and-play” as other platforms. But then I discovered Elementor, and suddenly, everything clicked. Elementor gave me the ability to design websites exactly how I envisioned them without needing to code everything from scratch. It was the perfect balance between creative flexibility and ease of use, and from that point on, there was no turning back.

Turning passion into a business

What started as a personal passion soon turned into something much bigger. I began working with business owners, creatives, and entrepreneurs who needed websites that were not only visually appealing but also functional, strategic, and easy to manage. I saw firsthand how frustrating and overwhelming website building could be for people who didn’t have the time or technical background to figure it all out themselves.

That’s what led me to create The Cherie Studio. Instead of building websites from scratch every time, I started designing custom-crafted templates that allowed people to get a professional, high-quality website without the stress and technical headaches. My goal has always been to make website building accessible, intuitive, and empowering — so that every brand and small business can create an online presence that truly represents them.

Final thoughts

For me, this isn’t just about designing websites — it’s about helping people bring their ideas to life with confidence. Whether you’re starting a business, launching a creative project, or simply wanting to share your story online, I believe that building a website should feel exciting, not overwhelming.

That same excitement I felt when I first customised my blog is what still drives me today, and it’s why I pour so much into every design I create.

So, if you’re ready to build something amazing? My templates are here to make the process easy, stylish, and seamless.
